It's October, and here at Management Today our thoughts turn once again to all that is great and good in British manufacturing. For 2002, our annual showcase of primary wealth-creation has received a new look and a new name. So it's out with Best Factory Awards, in with the Management Today Awards for Manufacturing, a new title that recognises the outward-looking and integrated nature of 21st-century British manufacturing.
Two elements that haven't changed are the enthusiasm and inspiringly high standards of the entries and the expertise and unfailing rigour of our judges. The panel (which this year includes management editor of the Observer and former editor of MT Simon Caulkin) have devoted their summer to travelling the length and breadth of the country in search of manufacturers that truly deserve to be counted among the best of the best. The result?
Our shortlist of 10 companies, each bearing favourable comparison with any competitor across the globe.
The MT Awards for Manufacturing are produced in association with Cranfield School of Management and in partnership with the DTI. They would not be possible without the support of our sponsors: AMICUS, English Partnerships, Fit for the Future, IEE, InFocus, Lansing Linde, PICME, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Star Internet. The awards will be presented at The Dorchester in London on 1 November and the results published in the November issue of MT. For further information contact Nici Brooks on 020 8267 4161.
