When did you become a manager?

When I started working for Simply Travel in 1998. Most reps are glorified sales people, but this job is different.

I manage everything that we do on the island - transport, accommodation and the budget. I'm on my own (Athens is five hours away by hydrofoil) so I have to make my own decisions.

What does management mean to you?

I'm on Skopelos for about seven months of the year, and I spend the time ensuring that our clients get as much enjoyment out of their holiday as they can. That means anything from recommending a bar to coping with medical emergencies. I also have to manage the properties that we use. Liaising with the owners can be tricky - I have to be diplomatic if something isn't up to scratch. Skopelos is a small place and I can't afford to upset anybody.

What do you love/hate about it?

I love the autonomy and I love living in Greece - I feel much healthier here. I hate the paperwork, and getting up at 5.30am to meet people at the airport.
