It's not workfare

Quote of the day: 'Those who are particularly targeting the supermarkets... are frankly job snobs' - Employment minister Chris Grayling hits back at critics who have dismissed the Government's 'workfare' scheme, under which people on jobseeker's allowance get unpaid 'work experience'. The scheme has been under the spotlight recently after a Tesco store in Westminster was closed by protestors over the weekend for advertising jobs that were paid expenses and jobseeker's allowance. But while Matalan has 'suspended its involvement' in the scheme and 99p stores has withdrawn from the scheme, Grayling insisted it's 'entirely voluntary'.
