Oddbins to give discounts to 'Germans, bankers, gingers and journalists'

In a bizarre piece of PR, the off-licence chain has announced in a blog that it is offering discounts to people it feels were 'unloved' in 2012.

The chain has announced that every weekend, one of its four selected groups of people/professions will receive a 10%-off discount on full-price bottles of wine in January.
In a blog entry, Oddbins said: ‘For the last two months we’ve been spreading love almost willy-nilly. But now we have decided to give our love focus. So during this, the first month of 2013, we are going to turn our attention to four groups of people who, in 2012, did not always receive the love that they probably deserved.’
The groups it specifies (and when to get your discount) are:
• Mothers – Weekend beginning Friday 4th (apparently they’ve been ‘run ragged' over the festive season)
• Bankers & Journalists – Weekend beginning Friday 11th (no explanation needed)
• Germans – Weekend beginning Friday 18th (they’re very financially responsible and everyone is ‘mean to them’)
• Gingers – Weekend beginning Friday 25th (Rebekah Brooks has given them a bad name)
