Values attract top talent

The 'truly talented' are looking for intellectual challenge more than financial reward, according to IMD's visiting professor Catherine A. Ramus.

Based on a study of US and European MBA students, the research also reveals a highly idealistic strain: 97% wanted to work for an organisation with a good reputation in ethics, CSR and environmental sustainability.

The best route to attracting such employees is to create a value-based management system rather than a system that is responsive to external pressures and develops a compliance culture. In a value-based company employees are encouraged to discuss ethics and values, a factor which is motivating in itself.
