Table Talk: Where Jeff Turnas eats ..

The Prince Regent on Gloucester Road, south-west London, is a lovely pub that doesn't serve the pub food you might expect.

It has a great atmosphere and the service is always excellent. Helpfully, it is near both my home and my office in Kensington, so it's convenient to go there either with colleagues or my family. It is a very cool little place and not your typical pub at all.

When I had visitors from the US, I took them to eat there and they had a good time. For business lunches, there's a great outdoor area as well as a nice little back dining room that's quiet. When choosing a venue to eat with my family, it has to be kid-friendly - I have a 20-month-old daughter and my wife is pregnant, so we need somewhere that can accommodate us. Here, we can park the stroller without disturbing anyone.

We moved to London from Boston three months ago, and we've also lived in New York, Chicago and DC. Wherever we are, my wife and I always explore interesting places to eat.

I really enjoy the fresh seafood on the menu here. As I'm from the US, the British fish and chips is a treat but, generally, I will order whatever fresh fish dish is on offer that day. I also enjoy the charcuterie, an impressive selection of cold meats and olive dishes. And they do a good burger too.

Many pubs seem to have a generic menu, but the Prince Regent has a great selection, excellent quality, and I can get a nice cold Guinness.
