With a first in natural sciences from Cambridge, Garnett took up a truncheon and joined the Met. Starting out as a constable in Hackney, she’s now a detective chief inspector and senior investigating officer. Garnett set up the Commissioner’s 100, a ‘frontline do-tank’ where junior officers suggest new strategies to improve policing, and co-founded Police Now, a social enterprise similar to Teach First to attract more grads to the force.
