What does it involve? The social accountability team champions sustainable development throughout the Royal Dutch/Shell Group companies. We help our businesses integrate the economic, social and environmental aspects of everything they do and balance short-term wants with long-term needs.

We have developed a sustainable Development Management Framework for this.

Making sustainable development part of the way we do business in a group of companies involving more than 100,000 people in some 130 countries really is a stretch target and will take time. Reporting progress is a key feature of the job.

How did you get the job? I was assigned to it.

Best points? The 'leading edge' nature of the work. It's a wonderful opportunity to be a catalyst for change.

Worst points? Meeting targets can have an adverse effect on the work/life balance.

Salary scale: Anything from £20,000 upwards.
