Offbeat and approachable, The Motley Fool UK is the offspring of the hugely successful American version of the same name. Like most good personal finance sites, The Fool offers news, portfolio management and message boards. And unlike most good personal finance sites, it's actually quite fun to visit.
This difference is immediately apparent: M&S' annual shareholder beano appears under the headline 'Awful General Meeting', while the Fool's investment adviser cheerfully admits to being completely wrong about P&O's recent stellar performance, adding by way of explanation that it was less predictable than Man-U winning the Treble. And so on.
The jokes can get a little forced (business isn't really that funny) and the constant punning on the word 'fool' gets a bit tiresome. But for an alternative investment site, The Motley Fool is hard to beat.
