Aside from the millions of people using Tinder to swipe past photos of people they don’t like the look of (and occasionally using it to arrange a hook up or an actual date), one way you can tell it’s a success is that people are brazenly ripping it off. Remember when Innocent Smoothies made it big and every supermarket was suddenly falling over themselves to produce own brand versions?
Here are five apps that have latched onto our addiction to swiping:
Twitter founder Biz Stone’s new baby, Jelly allows people to take photos of things and ask questions about them. Other users then swipe through queries and can opt to answer them. A social search engine if you will.
A ‘news radio’ app, you swipe through podcasts and shows until you find something you like and Swell learns what to pick out for you next time in the process.
Search for something to do – from concerts to eating out – and scroll through the results until you hit on a winner.
It’s Tinder for shoes. Which you can buy instead of having a one night stand with.
This one looks eerily familiar. Because it is pretty much a complete clone of Tinder.
