Books: On the bedside table of Adam Applegarth

'I'm reading Catilina's Riddle by Steven Saylor. It's part of Saylor's 'Gordianus' series, all mysteries set in the dying days of the Roman Empire, with Gordianus as the lead character. In this book, Gordianus, still being mentored by Cicero, discovers a headless corpse in the stables. The book is a sort of mystery, but also rather more than that.'
