In Germany it's time to get new skills or die. Some bosses understand this. Reiner Kreutzmann's office is a treasure trove of gadgets and devices designed to help colleagues develop. On the right are the latest training videos, next to them is a pile of marketing texts and books on optimal nutrition.

But Kreutzmann is not just indulging a hobby. We are talking 24 hours a day professional development here. He has turned his business into a living and breathing learning machine.

According to Kreutzmann, it's always dangerous when you have a new employee.

They just might not get it. Not with Mr K. New staff are given a compulsory 100-day learning programme. Competitors are impressed too. 'That business is totally customer focused,' says one.
