A Sunday Telegraph ad offers an exciting career in Soft FM. Why not? Most of us have Eagles records in the attic and could speak in soothing platitudes while smiling. Sadly, that won't be required. Soft FM is the 'human' end of facilities management who look after buildings and those working in them. Hard FM replaces the roof; Soft FM replenishes the water-cooler. It's British jargon associated with the Private Finance Initiative. There is, however, a Soft FM specialising in easy-listening sounds - in Thailand.
