Rightmove, the UK’s most-visited property website, takes the inaugural laurels in this new-for-2012 sector. First-half profits are up over 30% to £38.9m and an eye-popping operating margin of 70% proves that there is still money to be made in the British property market. Rightmove also takes the overall award for quality of management and equal honours for financial soundness. One advertising megagroup – Aegis (bought in July by Dentsu of Japan for £3.2bn) – pips another, WPP, to second place. But WPP boss Sir Martin Sorrell can console himself with having been voted 2012’s Most Admired Leader. Fourth equal are M&C Saatchi – whose accounts include Peroni and Hewlett-Packard – and Moneysupermarket.com.
