Company summary: We were founded in 1979 on a Leicester market stall by Bill and Jean Adderley and are now a major British-based home furnishing retailer with over 100 stores throughout the United Kingdom plus a transactional webstore - www.dunelm-mill.com. We continue to show strong growth with turnover now in excess of £500m. Even though we are a member of the FTSE 250, we remain true to our market stall roots and to our Simply Value For Money proposition - an industry-leading choice of good quality homewares products at great prices, with deep availability and supported by friendly service.
Pay and benefits: Pay is market competitive, with benefits including staff discount and the opportunity to join the Dunelm Mill Share Save scheme and company stakeholder pension.
Promotion and development: Promotion is solely down to the individual. If you show drive and passion, there are great opportunities. Dunelm Mill has its own in-house development programme called Dunelm Directions and also works with West Nottinghamshire College and other partners elsewhere in the UK to deliver training programmes that provide nationally recognised qualifications and practical skills for both inside and outside the workplace.
Company culture: We are passionate about our business and about improving every aspect of it - this thirst for improvement is at the heart of our culture. We try very hard to stay true to the entrepreneurial spirit of our founder and to act like a small family business even though we are now an established plc. We love products, we love shops and we love customers.
Diversity, social responsibility: As a significant employer, we recognise our legal and our moral responsibilities to all stakeholders. We take very seriously our obligation to provide a safe environment for our customers and our staff. We are an equal opportunities employer. We work with suppliers to ensure that the products we sell are ethically sourced. We support charitable initiatives at local (store) level, as well as on a company-wide basis.
Environment and sustainability: We have in place an environmental committee tasked with understanding all aspects of our environmental impact. We have a particular focus on improving in the key areas of waste recycling, packaging reduction, energy usage and carbon emissions.
Innovation: We enjoy change and innovation. Continued growth means we need to keep developing and innovating - be it on service, looking at new ways of doing things, developing new products or evolving our store format.
Opportunities: There are opportunities right across our organisation, at all levels, for people who want to achieve and be part of the Dunelm Mill culture.
