GlaxoSmithKline 70.0
AstraZeneca 61.4
Shire 60.9
Reckitt Benckiser 57.6
Hikma Pharmaceuticals 57.0

GSK tops its sector again, improving on last year's results by 6.5 points, rising 14 places to fifth overall, and scoring a jaw-dropping 9.2 for financial soundness. It reported a Q3 turnover of £6.76bn, buoyed by sales of anti-viral Relenza. It also pulled off a historic JV with rival Pfizer to create HIV treatment firm ViiV Healthcare. AstraZeneca moves from fifth to second. It reported Q3 pre-tax profit growth of 27%. Its nasal-spray swine flu vaccine has sold well. Shire climbs from eighth to third. After a strong first half, Reckitt Benckiser reported flat Q3 revenues of £862m. Boss Bart Becht calls Europe (accounting for half its sales) 'a challenging environment'.
