Diageo 65.8
SABMiller 62.4
Britvic 58.2
JD Wetherspoon 55.6
Young and Co's Brewery 54.2

World's biggest drinks business Diageo has dropped more than six points, losing its overall title of Britain's Most Admired Company, but holding on to top-of-sector. It has been a tough year for CEO Paul Walsh (reflected in the fall from first to third on quality of management), with sales flat at £9.3bn and unrest among staff in reaction to restructuring plans that include the loss of 900 jobs. Hot on Diageo's heels is SABMiller, which scored the same as last year, despite a punishing 2009. Some cheer was provided by continued expansion in the lucrative African market. Soft-drink maker Britvic provided the fizz as the only firm in the top three to maintain strong growth.
