Business Studies is best

News arrives at MT from the Higher Education Statistics Agency that Business Studies is now the nation’s most popular degree subject, with 12.5% of undergraduates opting to pursue it. That’s ahead of the biological sciences, social studies, the creative arts and medicine. Given that everyone from Bernie Ebbers and Dennis Kozlowksi to David Brent has spent the last few years doing their best to bring business and management into disrepute, this finding is something of a turnup. But as Stefan Stern discovers for MT in ‘Reclaiming the M word,’ managers can lay claim to self-respect.
