MY BEST... I recently appointed Robin Rowland as managing director of YO! Sushi. I feel I will look back and say that this was the best thing I ever did, as I see Robin's team rallying around and taking a sense of ownership of the concept they're rolling out in the UK. I will continue to provide a service to the team through our CAN I? philosophy - 'constant and never-ending innovation' - and in finding new sites. It gives me time to develop new strands to the YO! brand like YOTEL!, Body YO! and YOGANIC!. As chairman, I hope to have an overview of our development outside the trenches of day-to-day operation.

MY WORST... When I first opened YO! Sushi I had calls from people all over the world wanting to start franchises or joint ventures. I thought I'd be on easy street - I could open hundreds of YO! Sushi restaurants and bars worldwide. I had conversations with many of the people interested and even hired lawyers. But we weren't ready to expand. At the time, I couldn't work out why none of the deals happened, but we were just like little babies. We had only two outlets. I wasted thousands of pounds on it, and, crucially, a lot of my time. We should have told everyone to wait three years until we were grown-ups. But I did a lot of flirting and 'kissed a few girls' along the way and, as we all know, relationships take up a lot of time.
