London's Shard opens with one tenant

Stat of the day: 1 - The number of tenants signed up for the Shard so far.

Last Updated: 09 Oct 2013
It cost around £450m to build and stands 310m tall, but so far only the Shard has only signed up one tenant.

The Shangri-La hotel has taken floors 34 to 52 in the 87-storey tower, although Shard developer Irvine Sellar is optimistic; expecting the rest of the building to be fully occupied by the end of 2014.

To much hype the Shard officially opened last night, promising Londoners a ‘spectacular’ laser display. But the general consensus was one of disappointment. ‘We were expecting a light show and saw fairy lights twinkling in the distance - nothing out of the ordinary,’ one viewer in south-east London commented.
