In fact, do you hate anyone who doesn't share your views (on anything, even though yours keep changing)? It was going to happen; sooner or later they were going to medicalise Madonna. She of the two-hour daily workout and macrobiotic diet would never understand those whose gym membership lapsed 10 years ago. Another word for control freak, Madonna Syndrome describes people who have a tendency to order for everyone in a restaurant (though no-one asked them to). They make lists, leave Post-it notes all over the house and never forget a detail. There is no such thing as a loose arrangement or a spontaneous moment with a Madonna Syndrome sufferer. Treatment requires a letting go of the reins, as they say. Psychotherapy and drugs can help with symptoms (which are based on the fear of being out of control), but not as much as a long holiday and a few stiff drinks. Then, who cares what happens?
