Over 100 high-flying women, including many from MT's '35 Women Under 35' hall of fame, came together last night at Mulberry’s Knightsbridge store to catch up, network and have some fun. It was also an opportunity for possible contenders for MT’s '35 Women Under 35' 2008 list to meet with the magazine.
The highlight of the evening was the keynote speech by Baroness Sarah Hogg, chairman of 3i group, whose words of wisdom resonated with the high flyers there. She said that although today’s young women have many more opportunities at their age than her generation did, the pressures they face are just as tough - if not worse. Women who want both a successful career and a family may be advised by business experts to view their lives along strategic lines, she continued, but not everything can or should be planned. The most important thing is to enjoy what you do and to stay focused on the things that really matter – and don’t be afraid to jump careers at any stage of your life.
Last night’s guests included previous '35 Women Under 35' list members such as Caroline Plumb of FreshMinds, May Jennings of Tesco, Jennifer Harris of JRBH, Erin Hepher of Aura, Charlotte Crosswell of Pension Corporation, Charlotte Clark of Inca, Dr Sima Adhya of Sciemus, Samantha Burlton of SoOrganic, Emilie Goodall of Venuturesome, and Kate Hall of Arup. Other glamorous attendees included Caprice Bourret of Caprice Lingerie and fashion designer Sara Berman.
All eyes are now on MT’s 2008 '35 Women Under 35' list, to be published in the July edition of the magazine. If you would like to nominate a high-flying colleague or friend, please send a short CV, outline of key job responsibilities and details of key achievements to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 2nd May.
