P&O Ferries: "Your final day of employment is today"
“I can’t imagine many more ways of generating backlash,” CMI’s Anthony Painter on P&O’s mass sacking.

P&O Ferries is facing fierce criticism after it sacked 800 staff without any prior notice last week.
Nearly a quarter of the ferry company’s staff were told in a pre-recorded video message that Thursday 17 March was their “final day of employment”. The company plans to replace them with cheaper agency workers.
In protest, some workers refused to leave their ships and were subsequently removed. In response to rumours of forceful removal, a spokesperson from P&O told MT that none of its people were “directed to use handcuffs nor force”.
