Innovation is the great preoccupation of business. Not only is it a company's sole ticket to long-term survival, it also represents the sum of the team's ideas and enthusiasm.

Put another way, without innovation, business is merely process and efficiency. 

Ranked below are the top 244 companies in the UK for their capacity to innovate, as determined by their harshest critics, their peers. 

The list was put together as part of Management Today's annual Britain's Most Admired Companies research, where Greggs took the overall top spot.
