How she made her pile: Sharon Osbourne - Self-styled 'housewife superstar'

Who is she? Wife of shuffling rock star Ozzie, mother of three, and a judge on ITV's 'talent' show, X Factor. Her website unblushingly calls her 'possibly the most successful businesswoman the entertainment world has ever fostered'.

How did she make her millions? Osbourne started work at 15 for her father Don Arden, manager of Black Sabbath. When the group threw out singer Ozzie Osbourne, Sharon snapped him up as a client, then married him. Her savvy operating and his pioneering rock and penchant for crowd-pleasing gore have earned them £100m - more than enough to feed their 12 dogs and to let them run this year's Ozzfest, their US touring rock festival, on a free-ticket basis.

The secret of her success? Hard work, self-promotion and the ability to turn her hand to ads, talent-show judging and, to a degree, chat shows. Critics should tread carefully - her recent autobiography revealed some unsavoury techniques for revenge.
