The number of jobs to be created by Jaguar after it announced it would be delivering '40 significant product actions' over the next five years. Er, quite.

MT isn’t sure what a ‘significant product action’ is, but it’s definitely a good thing in the West Midlands, where Jaguar Land Rover says it wants to deliver 40 of them over the next five years. That means 1,000 new jobs will be created in its Solihull factory, on top of the 5,000 already there.

So a bit of good news, on a day where doom and gloom reigns supreme. Although JLR’s human resources director, Des Thurlby, seems to be a little confused. ‘We shall be increasing the plant workforce by more than 25%’, he said. Not by our reckoning…
