The number of fizzy cola bottles bought by Gary Barlow fans after he tweeted a recommendation for an online sweetshop.

More proof that you can have too much of a good thing, after X Factor judge and former dreamboat Gary Barlow sent out a tweet recommending online sweetshop AQuarterOf.co.uk while he was preparing for the X Factor final. After the tweet, the sweetshop was apparently nearly brought down by 15,000 sugar-hungry Barlow fans, who between them bought 7,830 kola kubes, 11,600 fruit salads, 8,505 pink shrimps and 11,600 fruit salads.

Michael Parker, the site’s owner, said the sudden flood of orders ‘on top of the Christmas orders, put a real strain on operations. But we… just ploughed on until we got everything done.’ He also added, rather wryly, that ‘we always knew [Barlow] was the judge with the best taste’.
