The number of UK women who go bankrupt each day

by Elizabeth Anderson
Last Updated: 09 Oct 2013
Bad news for ladies who like to splash their cash - the number of women going bankrupt within the last year has soared, with the total number of insolvent women in the UK now hitting 65,000 - an increase of almost a quarter from last year. Experts warn that our desire to emulate WAGS' lavish lifestyles is part of the reason we're going bankrupt three times faster than men (among whom bankruptcy rose by just 8%). And things don't look likely to improve anytime soon: recent figures indicated that given the make-up of the public sector, women are the most likely to be affected by spending cuts, too. Less of a recession, more of a 'she'-cession. But at least we've still got our sense of humour, eh?
