The number of pairs of chopsticks a US company is producing a day - mainly for export to China.

China may be a country synonymous with chopsticks, but its gastronomes are being fed from a surprising source – the US. 

A company based in Americus, Georgia, produces two million chopsticks a day, and is hoping to up that to 10m pairs a day by the end of the year. Millions are being shipped to China, which is apparently facing a shortage of the wood used to carve them, according to the Telegraph. David Garriga, of the Americus economic development council, said the Pacific Rim has run out of wood, but there’s an abundance of it in the US – which makes it unsurprising that the Chinese have been forced to, er, up sticks and look elsewhere...
