Stat of the day: 3.3 million

The number of people expected to visit the UK by 2014 from Brazil, Russia, India and China as economies grow.

Last Updated: 09 Oct 2013

After a difficult recession, it looks like tourism businesses are set to enjoy something of a resurgence, if a report by VisitBritain is anything to go by. Apparently, the number of people coming UK from the fast-growing BRIC countries is going to rocket, and could add up to another 3.3 million visitors - in part thanks to the growing popularity of the English Premier League among Chinese fans. It could be a saving grace for many tourism businesses, which have struggled with a sharp fall in the number of people taking their holidays over here - last year alone, visitor numbers were down by 6%. Still - that's a lot of cameras to dodge. We wonder what the Russian is for 'get that lens out of my face'?
