Pret a Manger served up a healthy set of financial results this morning.  The coffee and sandwich chain posted core earnings of £46.1m last year – a rise of 37% – mainly thanks to its hot items being a hit with customers.

The chain, which has 265 outlets in Britain, said customers are snapping up bowls of porridge at the rate of 50,000 a week. Filter coffee at 99 pence is also proving popular.

Pret announced it’ll be opening another 30 stores this year, creating more than 700 jobs mainly in Britain. Looks like they’re on a roll…
