The Swedish company, Stora Kopparberget, meaning Great Copper Mountain, is the world's oldest. It traces its ancestry back to the 13th century, although significant activity may have been taking place in the company's Falun Mine as early as the year 850. Though the mine is still in operation today the company is now primarily involved in forestry products.
