Table Talk: Where Clare Logie Eats ..

My working lunches tend to be creative meetings, so I like to have a relaxed atmosphere where we can really take time out and talk in a conceptual way. The Atrium in Edinburgh is a small, upmarket place. It's not particularly Scottish, but it's quiet and good for somewhere to talk.

It's actually quite dark inside, which takes you out of your normal environment - away from e-mails and thinking someone's going to kick you out of the meeting room any minute. The decor is very simple, like a boutique hotel - all chocolate browns, creams and wrought iron. Some places have an overbearing character; this is a blank background for whatever you want to do there.

I've lived in Edinburgh for years, and have been going to the Atrium a long time. Everyone in the city knows it. It's housed in the same building as the Traverse theatre, and you can always find lots of exhibitions there, especially during the festival in the summer. It feels very private. The service is great but you don't really notice it, so if you want to get stuck into talking, you don't feel you're being disturbed or listened to.

The food is consistently well cooked. The menu is fairly general and not too fussy, and offers something for any palate. That makes it good to take people to for business lunches.

They do fabulous risottos - I'd recommend the goat's cheese and red pepper. In Scotland you come to expect good venison and theirs is fantastic. And they do a couple of excellent simple fish dishes. Plus, of course, there's a good wine list: great value and a fine selection.

I prefer very focused lunches - only one course, and maybe one glass of wine and a coffee. It's not about sitting around for hours and chatting - that's what weekends are for.
