What is it?
What fans of Thunderbirds, Bond and Dick Tracy have wanted for years - a communicator on your wrist.
What does it do?
The performance of the feather-light Watch Phone (48g) would embarrass some handsets - 90 minutes of talk-time, 60 hours' standby and voice-activated dialling for a start. Text-to-speech capability is coming soon, to give users audio access to SMS and e-mails. And it has plenty of satin-chrome techno-chic. There's only one drawback, but it's a biggy. It works only on CDMA mobile networks, common in Asia but unknown over here. Kids of all ages must wait for next year's GSM version before they can play at being Dick Tracy.
What's the competition?
Casio makes several trick watches, including global positioning and PC data-synch. But if you spend a lot of time in Asia, this is it.
Where can I get it?
From Samsung. But organise a pounds 350 overdraft first.
