THE PANASONIC RR-QR80 IC RECORDER
What does it do?
Panasonic's latest digital recorder can store up to an hour's worth of recording (in up to 99 files), making it useful for anything from meetings to one-off thoughts. And, because it uses a flash memory chip rather than a tape, you can fast-forward and rewind instantly, and it's completely soundless. It is also very small (about the size of a 10-pack of cigarettes) and it has a hip, shiny aluminium finish.
What's the competition?
Most major electronics manufacturers have something of this ilk, but Panasonic's latest offering is notable for the duration of its recording time and its diminutive, elegant design.
When can I get it?
It's available now, priced pounds 79.99. Its big brother, which has a whopping near four-and-a-half hours' recording time and will retail at pounds 99.99, is due to arrive next month.
