On the road
Saab 9-3 Convertible
I love driving this car with the top down – even in the winter. I just turn the heat up. It's understated and very fast. I drive mostly between the office and my homes in Marlow and the West End. It gets me into all sorts of trouble with the speed cameras over here. When in Marlow I also like to row on the river and walk my dog – a 26-week-old chocolate labrador.
Harman-Kardon Soundstick speakers
I have six sets of these all over my home. You just plug an i-Pod in and get great sound out of them. I have 3 i-Pods, two of which I use for music and one that I use for data back-up. i-Pods are great for back-up - they're really quick and portable.
Apple Powerbook G4
The whole office is on Macs – they're great. Not only is there something sexy about the way they look, but Macs are also much less prone to crashing than PCs. When I travel on business I take this and my smartphone with me. The phone is good for quick messages, but for doing presentations and for writing long e-mails I use the Mac. You need a laptop if you're going to get any real work done on the plane. I can also listen to music or watch a movie on it if I want. I have got through three of these Powerbooks so far this year.
Sony Ericsson P910
This is a smartphone, so it's a mobile and PDA combined. It is my life-support system. I have over 8,000 contacts on here and I spend so much time texting and e-mailing that I wear out the touch screens and have to buy a new phone every three months. And I get through two full battery charges every day. I'm a big fan of the Symbian operating system it uses – in fact, I have several former Psion employees [one of the system's developers, Psion sold its stake in Symbian to Nokia in 2003 for £140 million] working for me.
In the air
This is fantastic, it's like a fabric wing that folds up into a rucksack so you can just hike it up a hill or mountain, unpack it and jump off the top. Providing you jump into the wind! You can fly for four or five hours easily; it is really beautiful and so peaceful. I love to be flying – I've got my helicopter licence in the US and I'm in the middle of doing the UK conversion course. I also love mountaineering and skiing, but I haven't had time to do much of either recently.
