Tesco's loss is DSG's gain

People have been speculating about the so-called brain drain from Tesco for a while - and the trickle continues. John Browett, the man behind Tesco.com's success, has new been poached by the Currys and Dixons group, DSG, to replace outgoing chief executive John Clare.

Last Updated: 06 Nov 2012

Browett has been on Terry Leahy's top team for nearly a decade. Big things are now expected of this impressive hire at DSG, a company looking to strengthen its online offering. Anyone who has visited a Currys or Dixons store recently will understand why the web is a much better shopping experience.

But what does Browett's resignation from Tesco mean? Is it a sign that the long and glorious reign of Leahy at Britain's Most Admired Company is resulting in that age-old problem of job-blocking? If so, there's one thing we can be sure of, and that's the good fortune of the companies mopping up the fallout.
