The 1996 quest for manufacturing excellence continues, with the team of experts from Management Today, Cranfield School of Management, the DTI, CBI and IEE currently visiting sites throughout the UK in search of the winners of the 1996 Management Today Best Factory Awards.
The final shortlist will be made public in September and the winners announced at the Best Factory Awards lunch to be held at The Savoy, London on 31 October 1996.
Information on the Web
Management Today now has an interactive Internet site providing information on Britain's best factories. The site includes case studies of winners from the last three years. It also offers products including the latest report, The Making of Britain's Best Factories, and incorporates information on the DTI's Inside UK Enterprise Scheme, allowing users to find factories willing to arrange site visits. Best Factory Conference
The Best Factory Awards aim not only to recognise manufacturing excellence, but also to spread best practice. To this end, Management Today and Cranfield School of Management will be hosting the third annual Best Factory Conference at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, West Midlands, on Monday 30 September and Tuesday 1 October. What sets the Best Factory Conference apart is the focus and quality of the speakers. Hailing from companies such as AT&T, Bonas, NSK and Honeywell, each will be speaking in its area of expertise - and each will have been recognised by the Best Factory Awards judges as outstanding in its field.
For further details about the Best Factory Conference, to be held at the National Motorcycle Museum on Monday 30 September and Tuesday 1 October 1996, write to Gillian Lowe, Conference Manager, Haymarket Events, 174 Hammersmith Road, London W6 7JP, or telephone 0171-413 4116 or fax 0171-413 4206.
A special report on The Making of Britain's Best Factories, published by Management Today and Business Intelligence, is now available. The report draws on the data collected during the past three years' Best Factory Awards and, for the first time, provides detailed, statistical analysis of the results from over 700 plants. The report, in-depth case studies and over 40 tables of comparative performance data, ensure that The Making of Britain's Best Factories is a unique and invaluable benchmarking tool.
The report is available from Business Intelligence, Forum House, 1 Graham Road, Wimbledon SW19 3SW; telephone: 0181-544 1830; fax: 0181-544 9020.
