What's your favourite lunchtime dish? Sociologists at the Centre for Advanced Marketing believe your choice may reveal what kind of employee you are. Through their research they have identified six kinds of worker: the older 'well-established' (22%), who expect generous, traditional catering; 'companions' (20%), who like a friendly, convivial atmosphere; work-hungry 'conquerors' (9%), who need high-energy food; 'explorers' (4%), who seek a la carte pleasures; the 'timid' (17%), who need only proletarian cooking; and 'volunteers' (28%), who are happy with a picnic or anything in Tupperware.

So, remember, next time you see a colleague eyeing your plate it could be more than just 'food envy'.
