BMW and BA are among companies that have subscribed to waitrose@work, a scheme which allows employees to shop at the local Waitrose from their desktop PC. Once the business' intranet is hot-wired to the local store, staff can select items from the Waitrose shelves, and these are then delivered to their place of work twice daily. The service, says Waitrose, saves employees' free time and eliminates hundreds of pollution-causing car journeys.
