MY BEST ... 'To make good decisions you need a very clear idea of where you want to go. I came to London from Sheffield in 1980 because I wanted to be rich and famous and it was the best place to be. I didn't really get it together here until I bought the old Talk of the Town club in 1982. Rocco Forte decided it wasn't worth renewing the lease, but I've always been innovative and knew I could make it work. Lots of people who jump on the Stringfellow's bandwagon fall off the other side because they forget that success isn't as simple as copying someone else's idea. For six great years the club made £1 million a year, all the trendiest people went there. I sold it to European Leisure for £7 million.'
