Ever wondered why your remuneration manager looks so prosperous, fit and well fed? The answer comes in the P-E Inbucon survey of executive salaries and benefits, a wonderful collection of statistics about managers' pay and perks.

Turning to a grandly titled table, "Incidence of benefits by job", Management Today noted that some 66% of remuneration managers enjoy subsidised lunches - against an average of 48% for the other executive categories listed. Similarly, 88.7% had free medical insurance, against an average of 77.7%, and 47.2% had SAYE share option schemes - again well ahead of the 28% average.

There seems to be one law for the paymasters and another for the rest of us. It is all good ammunition for when you next ask your remuneration manager for a rise.
