UK organisations that excel at customer service are recognised and rewarded by The Management Today/Unisys Service Excellence Awards, now in their third year. These awards are open to all organisations, both public and private, operating in the UK. Entries are assessed against four broad criteria of service provision: understanding customers; operational excellence; enabling people; and leadership, vision and values.

Finalists for this year's awards met at a presentation lunch at the Houses of Parliament on 29 September for the award ceremony. The Rt Hon. Michael Heseltine, MP, George Cox of Unisys, and Rufus Olins, editor of Management Today, presented the awards to the winning organisations.

Finalists from this year's awards and the two previous years have been invited to attend a three-day Service Excellence seminar to be held at Unisys International Management Centre, St Paul-de-Vence, France on 11-13 November 1998. Finalists will have the opportunity to present their case studies and learn from other companies' customer care experience.

All enquiries relating to the 1999 Service Excellence Awards should be addressed to Tony Locke, Unisys Customer Service Centre, Milton Keynes, MK15 0YS. Tel: 01908 212613.
