What does it do?
It is a dictaphone recorder that can store up to two-and-a-half hours of sound as digital files on removable memory cards. The clever bit is you can connect it to a PC and send the files as e-mail. So you can record dictation on the move, e-mail it to your PA and have it typed by the time you return. You can also upload e-mail from your PC for later reading (or listening if they have sound files). And there are the standard organiser and address book functions.
What's the competition?
Nothing direct. There are a number of digital voice recorders (Olympus, Panasonic, Grundig, etc), some of which download to PCs. Then there are palmtops and uber-organisers. The Quest sits somewhere between the two.
Where can I get it?
It will be widely available from early April: price £170
Telephone: 0171 878 5000.
